Virtual Classroom Frequently Asked Questions
What is a "Virtual Classroom"?
Using a third party virtual cloud application tool called Skytap, Sage Abra offers training courses designed for a fully interactive classroom format, but now it's over the internet! Students log into a "Virtual PC" website that has Sage Abra sample software and data pre-loaded, and that the instructor can view and control when needed. Then the instructor guides students through each detailed step of the training course. Most Virtual Classroom courses come with a printed manual (we print and ship the manual directly to the address of your choice - the one you list in your Sage University profile).
What equipment do I need to attend the Virtual Classroom Training?
Six things:
- 1. A functioning computer with a monitor.
- 2. A stable internet connection.
- 3. A phone (with a headset is recommended).
- 4. A quiet space to work in during the training course (preferrably with a door that can be closed).
- 5. The training manual corresponding to the course, that Sage will ship directly to you!
- 6. A pen to take notes (you can do this right in your training manual).
Do I have to install something to attend Virtual Classroom Training?
No installations are necessary. A high-speed internet connection will be necessary to attend the training and participate without interruptions or delays.
How do I know if my internet connection is high-speed enough?
Visit http://vlab.skytap.com/connectivity to find instructions on testing your system for the Virtual Classroom environment..
Can I see an example of the Virtual Classroom?
Sure! Just view our Virtual Classroom demo video by clicking here! In order to fully view the demo video, you may also need to visit http://www.adobe.com/flash/ and ensure your Flash player is up-to-date.
Is this how Sage Abra training is delivered online now?
It's not the only way Sage Abra training is delivered online, but it's one of the best methods out there! Our Anytime Learning is still an online training option to view pre-recorded training sessions on your own schedule from your workstation. Additionally, our Realtime Learning sessions are online, instructor led and scheduled for a specific date and time. With Realtime Learning, everything happens live, so you can ask questions and interact with other participants and the instructor.
What is the difference between Virtual Classroom and Realtime Learning training?
Realtime Learning courses are designed to be smaller time frames then a typical training class, usually one or two hours. These courses focus on a more compact piece of learning material, such as Payroll Balancing or using the Report Wizard in Crystal Reports.
Our Virtual Classroom is made to accommodate training that will encompass one full day, two days or even a week. These courses will cover complete and thorough product training, such as the Sage Abra HR product or the Suite Payroll product. In addition, to accommodate your busy schedule, we have broken down the full product courses into smaller sessions to be taken over several days or weeks. For example, we have broken down an eight hour training course into two hour training sessions to be delivered Tuesdays and Thursdays over two weeks.
What if I cannot attend every session of the Virtual Classroom?
Please make sure you are available for ALL sessions that make up the course before registering. Class and session attendance is the responsibility of the student. Sage Learning Services is not responsible for providing students with make-up classes, as it will be very difficult to make up missed sessions (course times and trainers will differ from class to class).
How do I get my training manual for the Virtual Classroom course?
Not all Virtual Classroom courses come with a printed training manual (some will have PDF manuals that you can save and print yourself), but for the courses that come with a printed manual, the manual will be shipped to the address listed as your Primary Address on your Sage University Profile. The manual(s) are shipped via FedEx, signature required, and to be delivered by the day before your first scheduled Virtual Classroom training session. Manuals cannot be shipped to PO boxes. If you would like an extra copy of a training manual, these can be sold for an extra charge upon request: please send your request to es_training@sage.com or call 1-866-888-6062.
